Description
We are looking for an Accountant to join a team in Vaughan, Ontario on a contract basis, with the potential for a long-term opportunity. This role will provide hands-on accounting support during a key staffing transition while helping maintain day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will bring practical costing experience, strong analytical ability, and confidence working with financial systems in a manufacturing or product-based environment. This opportunity is expected to run for approximately six months to one year, with the potential to become an ongoing position.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting activities to support continuity across core finance operations, including payables, reconciliations, invoicing, and related financial processes.
• Lead the consolidation and maintenance of costing data, ensuring information is accurate, current, and aligned with reporting requirements.
• Perform hands-on standard costing work, including reviewing cost structures and supporting period-end cost rollups during key year-end timing.
• Analyze manufacturing and cost variances, such as bill of materials discrepancies, and investigate results to support informed financial decisions.
• Partner with finance leadership and internal stakeholders to maintain reliable reporting and provide practical support during departmental changes.
• Contribute to payroll-related accounting activities and help ensure financial records are complete and properly reconciled.
• Use ERP and accounting software tools effectively to process transactions, monitor data integrity, and support reporting needs.
• Assist with finance-related process updates, including the transfer of costing information and participation in future ERP or system migration activities as required. • Demonstrated experience in accounting roles with solid exposure to general accounting functions and day-to-day financial operations.
• Practical knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis, ideally in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven environment.
• Proficiency with ERP platforms and accounting software systems, with the ability to work comfortably across multiple financial applications.
• Experience supporting accounts payable, invoicing, reconciliations, and payroll-related accounting tasks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review costing results, identify inconsistencies, and follow through on issues.
• Familiarity with tools and platforms such as ADP, Concur, and other enterprise financial systems is considered an asset.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently while supporting a broader finance team through transition periods.
