Responsibilities:
The Bridgetender performs the entity of the following duties:
- Operate the railway bridge.
- Operate the gates and lights to stop vehicle traffic.
- Perform minor inspection, small repairs of the structure, tightening bolts, oiling, greasing.
- Climb the ladder to access the overhead bridge.
- Communicate by radio and telephone to authorized train movement over the bridge.
- Deal with motorized traffic from highway.
- Cleaning debris, ice and snow from bridge wedges.
- •Record boat activity.
- Perform all other related tasks.
General Requirements:
- Have a High School Diploma.
- Have a driving license.
- Experience as a Bridgetender is an asset.
- Have verbal and written skills.
- Able to work alone and work safely.
- Show great autonomy and be resourceful.
- Thorough knowledge of the CROR Rules.
- Ready to work outside in different weather conditions.
- Able to adapt to changes; working hours, service calls, overtime.
