Junior Technical Solutions Manager

About Boast

Boast is redefining how companies unlock R&D funding, turning a complex, manual, and audit-prone process into a streamlined, scalable engine for growth. By combining deep technical and R&D tax expertise with purpose-built AI, Boast helps companies across Canada and the U.S. unlock critical funding with confidence so they can focus on building and growing. Since 2011, Boast has helped thousands of businesses access over $600 million in innovation capital.

At Boast, you have the opportunity to do meaningful, high-impact work without operating in a rigid structure. You are trusted to take ownership, work directly with interesting clients, and contribute to how solutions are built and delivered. Problems are complex, the work is collaborative, and the pace is fast, which creates an environment where you can expand beyond a single specialty, build real judgment, and see the direct impact of your work. For those who want responsibility, visibility, and the ability to influence outcomes, let’s talk!

About the Role

As a Junior Technical Solutions Manager, you’ll help companies across Canada and the U.S. turn complex technical and financial information into clear, well-supported R&D tax credit claims.

You’ll work directly with clients to understand the technical work they’re doing, identify potentially eligible R&D activities, and gather the information needed to support their claims. You’ll own assigned claims and deliverables from discovery through documentation, working within Boast’s established processes and drawing on internal expertise when more complex questions arise.

You’ll receive training in SR&ED and Boast’s claim preparation process, with guidance and review from experienced colleagues as you develop your skills. Previous SR&ED experience is not required.

This is an early-career opportunity with meaningful responsibility. You’ll communicate directly with clients, manage competing priorities, analyze technical and financial information, and translate complex projects into accurate, compelling claim narratives. As you grow, you’ll build expertise in SR&ED and other government funding programs while developing your judgment as a trusted technical and client-facing professional.

This role is ideal for a STEM graduate or early-career technical professional who is curious, analytical, comfortable asking thoughtful questions, and excited to take ownership of meaningful client work.

📍 Location: Opportunities in Eastern and Western Canada, with a focus on Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary
🏢 In-person collaboration: This is a hybrid role with occasional in-person work
💰 Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 annually, plus up to a 10% discretionary bonus
🗣️ Language: Professional fluency in English is required. French-English bilingualism is a strong asset, particularly for supporting French-speaking clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical discovery conversations with clients to understand their projects, identify potentially eligible R&D activities, and gather the information needed to support their claims.
  • Own assigned claims and deliverables from information gathering through documentation, working within established processes and escalating more complex questions when needed.
  • Review and synthesize technical, project, payroll, contractor, and financial information to support accurate and well-documented claims.
  • Translate complex technical work into clear, compelling claim narratives and supporting documentation
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, communicate requirements clearly, follow up on outstanding information, and keep deliverables moving against deadlines.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or potential risks in client information and work with internal experts to resolve them.
  • Support clients through claim reviews and audits by preparing documentation, responding to information requests, and contributing to a clear, defensible claim position under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
  • Manage multiple client priorities while maintaining accurate records, strong attention to detail, and consistent communication.
  • Develop expertise in SR&ED and other funding programs while contributing ideas that improve Boast’s processes, client experience, and technology-enabled delivery.

What You Bring

  • A STEM degree, diploma, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to explain technical work clearly.
  • Technical curiosity and confidence asking thoughtful questions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-management skills
  • Experience managing projects or deadlines through school or early-career work.
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients and collaborating with technical, financial, and internal stakeholders.
  • Exposure to SR&ED, government funding, technical consulting, or financial data would be an asset.

What to Show Us

We recognize that strong candidates can build relevant skills through school, internships, personal projects, volunteer work, and early-career experience. In your application, we encourage you to highlight:

  • A technical project you helped explain, analyze, or document.
  • An example of turning complex information into clear written work.
  • An experience that demonstrates ownership, collaboration, and your ability to keep work moving against a deadline.

Boast Benefits

  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits package
  • RRSP matching program
  • Three weeks of paid vacation
  • A hybrid work environment with access to co-working spaces in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary
  • Opportunity to take ownership of meaningful work and directly influence outcomes in a growing, product-driven company
  • Work alongside a team focused on solving complex, high-impact problems in a fast-moving, start-up environment
