Job Description:

Title: Manager, Software Engineering

Team: VoiceAI

Location: Remote Canada (EST or CST)

Travel: As needed for Internal and External meetings

Why This Role Exists

As a Manager of Software Engineering on the VoiceAI team, you’ll help shape the future of healthcare by leading a talented, distributed engineering team responsible for building and evolving AI-powered voice solutions that improve the patient experience. You’ll partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, build, scale, and maintain innovative VoiceAI products that drive patient activation and better healthcare outcomes.

This role combines people leadership, technical execution, and delivery accountability while helping your team thoughtfully adopt AI-assisted, agentic development practices to deliver secure, high-quality software at scale.

What You’ll Spend Your Time Doing

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team. Hire, mentor, and support software engineers while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
  • Drive successful software delivery. Lead sprint planning and execution, ensuring your team delivers high-quality, scalable software that meets business, customer, security, and technical requirements.
  • Champion responsible AI adoption. Facilitate the thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted, agentic development tools and establish team practices for validating and safely incorporating AI-generated code and technical recommendations.
  • Build and maintain innovative VoiceAI solutions. Contribute to software development by implementing required functionality, writing technical documentation, participating in design reviews, and maintaining software quality and security standards.
  • Own product health. Take ownership of existing products throughout their lifecycle by managing bug fixes, product maintenance, production support, and customer escalations.
  • Promote engineering excellence. Review code through pull requests, support CI/CD practices, and help continuously improve engineering processes, software quality, and team effectiveness.

What Makes You a Great Fit

You don’t need to check every box — but this role will feel energizing if you:

  • Have deep experience building and supporting highly distributed applications using Microsoft .NET (C#) or Java.
  • Are passionate about developing and growing engineering talent through coaching and mentorship.
  • Enjoy collaborating across Product, Engineering, Architecture, and other cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Have experience designing, building, or integrating Voice AI agents and LLM-powered workflows into production systems.
  • Have successfully adopted or led the use of AI-assisted development tools, including coding assistants, AI-powered testing, documentation generation, or code generation tools.
  • Have established engineering practices for reviewing, validating, and safely incorporating AI-generated code.
  • Have experience with MySQL, DynamoDB, cloud-native architectures, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Are comfortable building or supporting modern web applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Have experience deploying and operating distributed systems on AWS.
  • Have experience managing contractors and external vendors.
  • Are a self-motivated, pragmatic problem solver who thrives in a distributed team environment.
  • Have excellent technical and non-technical communication skills.

We Do Have A Few Requirements To Check

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline required.
  • 8+ years of experience building and supporting highly distributed software applications.
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading software engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of project management experience delivering successful software releases.

Where You’ll Work

This is a remote role where you’ll collaborate closely with distributed engineering, product, and cross-functional teams across the U.S. and Canada. Occasional travel within the United States and Canada is expected.
