- Reports to: Sr. Operations Manager
Responsibilities
· Monitor packing line equipment such as straw applicators, shrink wrappers, case sealer, palletizers, and bar & date coding machines.
· Ensure all supplies (straws, glue, etc.) are stocked and refilled for production.
· Manually load trays of finished products on pallets, prepare stock for palletizing procedure.
· Check conveyors prior to production to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
· Inspect operating equipment to identify and resolve obstructions to resume operations.
· Alert mechanic if equipment malfunctions and work with them to correct problem.
· Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and sanitary condition by following proper cleaning procedures.
· Perform work in safe and efficient manner.
· Ensure all paperwork is filled out accurately, start-up and cleaning checklist, downtime sheets, and quality check sheets.
· Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
· Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.
Profile
· Grade 12 or equivalent level of education
· Ability to stand for long periods of time, and do light lifting (up to 30 lbs)
· Ability to learn multiple pieces of operating equipment and basic trouble-shooting techniques
· Ability to work with and communicate well with others (ability to read, write and speak clearly in English)
· Attention to detail
· Experience as a machine operator in a food manufacturing or product manufacturing is preferred
· Good knowledge of HACCP is an asset (training will be provided otherwise)
· Experience in a warehouse environment is an asset
