Description

About Us:

Bigfoot is a small non-union, incredibly diverse company. We provide rentals, sales and service for numerous products such as: Self-Erecting Tower Cranes, Traditional Tower Cranes, Construction Hoists and Roof Top Derrick Cranes. We offer our employees the opportunity to expand their skillset and training in many different areas. Many of our employees achieve formal certifications including Electrician, Millwright and Elevating Device Mechanic. Being a small diverse company, we also require diverse employees who are interested in working in various aspects of our service business. We provide competitive wages and comprehensive benefits in a strong team environment with a culture high in honesty and integrity.

Position Overview:

Bigfoot Crane is looking for highly motivated individuals who want to build a career in technical sales and have the drive to create their own success. This is not a position focused on simply responding to incoming inquiries. The successful candidate will be expected to actively develop new business, build customer relationships, learn the technical side of our industry and grow their income through performance.
The TSR will be mentored by Bigfoot’s experienced Senior Technical Sales Representative and supported by our operations and technical teams. Previous crane industry experience is not required. We are looking for someone with the attitude, work ethic, technical aptitude and willingness to learn required to become a successful long-term sales professional.

Primary Sales Responsibilities:

  • Develop rental and sales opportunities for Bigfoot’s tower crane and self-erecting crane fleet throughout Western Canada.
  • Develop rental opportunities for Bigfoot’s construction hoist fleet.
  • Actively prospect through phone calls, email, jobsite visits, networking, industry contacts and other business development activities.
  • Identify upcoming construction projects and pursue opportunities early in the project cycle.
  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, project managers, superintendents, estimators, equipment managers and other industry contacts.
  • Conduct customer and jobsite visits independently as knowledge and experience develop.
  • Review customer requirements, project information and drawings where applicable and work with internal technical resources to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare, present and consistently follow up on quotations and proposals.
  • Maintain an accurate and active pipeline and take ownership of opportunities from initial prospecting through award and handoff to operations.
  • Maintain customer contacts, opportunities, quotations, follow-up activities and pipeline information accurately and consistently in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Maintain awareness of competitors, market conditions, upcoming projects and customer requirements.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to introduce customers to Bigfoot’s other product lines and services and connect qualified opportunities with the appropriate internal team.

The role requires an active customer and jobsite presence throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the BC Interior, with broader travel throughout Western Canada as opportunities require. Some overnight travel will be required. This is not primarily a desk-based sales position.

Business Systems & CRM:

This role will operate through Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for customer management, opportunities, quotations, follow-up, pipeline management and other sales activities. TSRs are expected to maintain accurate and current information in Business Central as part of their normal daily workflow. Previous experience with Business Central or a similar CRM/ERP platform is an asset but is not required. Full adoption of Bigfoot’s systems and processes is a requirement of the position.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Highly motivated, competitive and driven to succeed.
  • Interested in building income and career progression through personal performance.
  • Comfortable prospecting, making cold calls, introducing themselves and pursuing new business.
  • Willing and eager to get out of the office, visit jobsites and meet customers face-to-face.
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative without constant direction.
  • Persistent and resilient when faced with rejection or lost opportunities.
  • Technically curious and interested in understanding equipment, construction projects and customer applications.
  • Coachable and willing to learn from experienced members of the Bigfoot team.
  • Personable, professional and capable of building credibility with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Organized and disciplined with follow-up, Business Central use and pipeline management.
  • Accountable for their activity, commitments and results.

Experience /Qualifications:

  • Experience in sales, construction, heavy equipment, industrial equipment or a related field is an asset, but is not required. More important is finding someone with the right attitude, communication skills, work ethic and aptitude to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to pursue opportunities.
  • Comfort working in both office and construction-site environments.
  • Basic mechanical or technical aptitude.
  • Strong organization and follow-up skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Western Canada as required, including some overnight travel.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar CRM/ERP platform is an asset but is not required. The ability and willingness to learn and fully adopt Bigfoot’s business systems is mandatory.
