Our client, an Oil & Gas Services company in Calgary, is seeking an Accountant for a long-term contract assignment. This role is ideal for an adaptable accounting professional who enjoys variety, works well within a team, and can manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable transactions and ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
- Prepare accounts receivable entries and assist with billing activities.
- Review financial data, identify discrepancies, and complete data cleanup as required.
- Provide day-to-day accounting support across multiple functions and expense areas.
- Manage shifting priorities and respond to urgent requests while completing assigned tasks independently.
- Assist with reconciliations, invoice processing, and general accounting activities.
- Collaborate with a large accounting team and respond to requests and direction promptly.
- Use accounting systems and Excel to process transactions, track information, and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of accounting or finance experience in a transactional or support-based role.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, debits and credits, and basic reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately review high volumes of financial data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Well-organized, able to follow direction, and comfortable working independently once priorities are established.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems; exposure to Concur, ADP, payroll systems, or similar platforms is an asset.
- Intermediate Excel skills preferred, with familiarity with pivot tables considered an asset.
