• Prepare draft financial statements and notes, including balancing statements using appropriate rounding functions and ensuring prior-year figures agree to issued statements.
• Understand the purpose of assigned working papers and procedures, complete them fully and provide clear explanations for variances or unusual items.
• Identify basic accounting, tax or file issues and escalate them to the reviewer with proposed next steps where possible.
• Clear review notes promptly and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed without unresolved issues within expected timelines.
• Demonstrate ongoing growth in file efficiency, technical knowledge, professional judgement and ability to work with greater independence.
Communication, Teamwork and Dependability
• Take initiative in following up, escalating matters and establishing appropriate communication frequency to move files forward.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with reviewers, clients and team members using appropriate tone, grammar and communication channels.
• Draft clear, concise and professionally worded client or reviewer questions, with sufficient context and proposed next steps where appropriate.
• Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively, including clearing review notes, balancing files with competing deadlines and meeting expected timelines.
• Proactively communicate workload, capacity, file conflicts, delays, planned vacation and time away to reviewers and managers.
• Monitor own WIP, schedule and budget-to-actual variances, and communicate concerns early to the reviewer or manager.
• Enter time daily with meaningful descriptions, including time spent on unplanned issues or additional client requests.
• Support team members when capacity allows and contributes to a collaborative, client-focused team environment.
• Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
• Post-secondary education in accounting, business or a related field.
• Enrollment in, or progress toward, the CPA designation is considered an asset.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with CaseWare, Jazzit, TaxPrep and related accounting software is considered an asset.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, time management and ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask effective questions and escalate issues appropriately.

Key Competencies
