Founded in 1962, Belwood Poultry Ltd. was named after the Essex County communities of Belle River and Woodslee, Ontario. Our name pays tribute to these small towns and our shared, small-town values. Coming from humble beginnings, our family-owned business has grown to become a commercial turkey grower and processor. Since 2000, we’ve been a federally-licensed and HACCP-recognized operation, advancing our food processing technologies to strive for the highest health and safety protocols and embracing leading-edge animal husbandry philosophies. We continue to produce raw meat products for sale to primarily wholesale manufacturing, institutional and distribution/brokerage and export markets. We’ve recently upgraded our facility and equipment to stay on top of the newest food industry innovations. The installation of air chill technology enables us to expand our product offering and keep up with new consumer demands. We’ve come a long way, without compromising the values that Belwood was founded upon – respect and honesty in how we care for our flocks, our employees, and our customers.

Description

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Sort, pack, crate and package materials and products.
  • Check and weigh materials and products.
  • Trim, cut and de-bone various cuts of poultry.
  • Demonstrated ability to wear proper PPE (steel toe-rubber boots, hair nets, gloves, safety glasses, face coverings etc.) and comply with safety requirements.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of areas of responsibility.
  • Adhere to individual Product Standard Operating Procedures for components and packaging materials.
  • Interact and share information with Team Members at all levels (Lead Hands, Supervisors, Others). Actively participates in their work group.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and in damp wet conditions (Under 10˚C)
  • Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Physical requirements: standing and walking for extended periods of time, bending, and lifting.
  • Fast paced environment.

Compensation:

  • Starting Rate: $17.95
  • Wage & Performance review after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period. Wage and performance will be reviewed annually.
  • Health care, LTD, Life Insurance following a 90-day probationary period for yourself and eligible family members (co-paid)
