Who We Are

For over 50 years, Distress Centre has served Calgary and Southern Alberta by providing 24-hour crisis support, information, and resources at no cost. Distress Centre does not define crisis. We do not judge. Anyone can call us day or night.

We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive workplace where employees are valued, experience a sense of belonging, and are confident in being their most authentic selves. We welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, and members of equity-deserving groups. We value all the ways that our community is diverse – in identity, experience and perspective.

What to Expect

The Mobile Response Coordinator reports to a Coordinated Entry Program (CEP) Team Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating access and response within the CEP at Safe Communities Opportunity and Resource Centre (SORCe). As the first point of contact for the Coordinated Access and Assessment (CAA) housing check-in line and CAA Mobile requests from community and system partners, you will play a key role in connecting people to the right supports at the right time.

Working closely with the CEP team and agency partners across health, justice, treatment, primary care, and domestic violence services, you will help coordinate timely responses for individuals experiencing housing instability. This role is ideal for someone who thinks quickly under pressure, stays organized, and is committed to helping people move toward long-term housing stability.

What You’ll Do

This list highlights core responsibilities and is not exhaustive. Additional related duties may arise over time and will be discussed and supported by your supervisor.

CAA Access, Triage and Service Coordination

  • Handle check-ins and brief updates directly to keep housing profiles active and supported
  • Assess the urgency of each request and determine the right level of support
  • Schedule new CAA entries, profile updates, and complex navigation needs

Collaborative Case Planning and Specialized Navigation

  • Consult with referring professionals when a request may not meet CAA Housing eligibility
  • Identify other CEP supports that can help stabilize someone's housing
  • Coordinate specialized navigation responses with internal teams and partners

Frontline Service Delivery and Crisis Response

  • Provide navigation, assessment, and referral on the floor when extra coverage is needed
  • Support participants with housing planning
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to crisis situations as they arise

Program Data, Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Keep CAA profiles, referrals, service records, and schedules accurate and current
  • Track follow-ups and workflow to keep service timely and consistent
  • Suggest process improvements that strengthen program and service delivery

What You Bring

  • Undergraduate degree in a human services-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 4 years of coordination or operational experience in a social service or related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including homelessness, mental health, substance use, and family violence.
  • Knowledge of homelessness support services and of Coordinated Entry and Coordinated Access systems and principles.
  • Proven interpersonal and cultural competency skills to work effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Indigenous communities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style across audiences.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay steady through unexpected changes, technology challenges, and crisis situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and participant data management systems such as HMIS or equivalent.
